England’s Young Lionesses squad has been selected for the UEFA Women’s U19 EURO first qualifying round.
England WU19s travel to Bosnia & Herzegovina for their three group games, kicking off against Denmark on Wednesday, 7 October at the Mladost Kakanj Stadium in Doboj, with a 12pm start.
The other two games against Switzerland and the hosts are at the Bosnia & Herzegovina FF Training Centre in Zenica, on Saturday 10 October and Tuesday 13 October respectively, both also starting at noon.
The top three sides will progress to the second round of qualifying in April next year, where the group winners will secure their place at the UEFA Women’s U19 EURO finals in Hungary in June. The tournament will also provide a route to qualification for the 2028 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
New head coach John Salomon said: “I’m really looking forward to bringing the players and staff together for our first camp of the season and getting our European campaign underway. It’s an exciting opportunity for the players to test themselves against three strong opponents. We know each game will bring a different challenge and that will be really valuable for the development of the group. Qualifying for a EUROs is always a big ambition and we want to put ourselves in the strongest possible position. We’re excited to get started and see what this group can achieve over the season together.”
