Loughborough and Real Bedford promoted, AFC Bournemouth Women win Plate

Loughborough Lightning and Real Bedford FA Women’s National League champions, AFC Bournemouth win Plate Final.

Nottingham Forest stayed top of the Northern Premier on goal difference from Wolves with a game in hand, after both had big away wins. Rugby Borough beat Burnley to move within two points of them, Hull City leapfrogged Derby County into ninth when winning away to the Rams.

Hashtag United secured a top-two spot in the Southern Premier by defeating Exeter City, Ipswich Town champions elect with a massive advantage in goal-difference. Watford went third with a win over Gwalia United, Plymouth level on points with Billericay in the battle to stay up with one game to go each.

Loughborough clinched the Division 1 Midlands title with a 5-0 away win, Northampton Town netting seven on the road in going second with Solihull Moors now relegated.

With a game left each, Middlesbrough took over at the top from Cheadle by a measure of three goals, as they scored seven to the Stingers one-goal win. 

Real Bedford romped to the Division 1 South East title with a double-figure victory, leaving Norwich City to attempt to take second spot.

All five games in Division 1 South West were away wins, including Bristol Rovers’ 2-1 success at Worthing which ensured them a top-four finish.

Ellie Strippel scored a decisive third for AFC Bournemouth, as they edged Cheltenham Town 3-2 in the Plate Final.

Mia Wheeler’s early goal for Derby was cancelled out late on by Elin Starck but with the shoot-out in sudden death, Leilani Lovell made a decisive save for the Rams.

FA WNL Reserve Plate Final

Stockport County Development 1-1 Stoke City Development (Stockport won 3-2 on pens)

Darcy Bancroft had Stoke ahead at the break but another shoot-out was brought about as Eva Henshall levelled for Stockport with seven minutes left. Four penalties were saved but County’s Millie Tutton converted the winner.
