Millwall’s top scorer and their player of the year talk about a season of eleven winless league games, player and managerial change, and a finish under Lee Burch that gave them hope. Ashlee Hincks, who came through Keith Boanas’ Charlton crop alongside Casey Stoney, Eniola Aluko and Katie Chapman, played in the WSL’s very first fixture for Chelsea against Arsenal in April 2011, and rejects the veteran label her team-mates have given her at twenty-eight. Leighanne Robe, five years at Arsenal as a youngster, puts her physicality down to playing against boys and describes the reality behind it: a full-time insurance job, nine-hour shifts followed by a drive to London for training, home at 11.30pm and up at seven. The trip to Durham means an overnight stay.
