Ones To Watch

Five England players are picked out on the eve of the tournament. Nikita Parris, top scorer in qualifying and the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year for 2018-19, is leaving Manchester City after five years to follow Lucy Bronze and Izzy Christiansen to Lyon. Georgia Stanway, the PFA Young Player of the Year, once made a 150-mile round trip three times a week to train at Blackburn Rovers; she shared the Golden Boot at the 2018 U-20 World Cup and was Player of the Match in the 2019 FA Cup final. Bronze, whom Phil Neville called the best player in the world in March, has won three domestic player awards. Beth Mead inspired the phrase ‘the crot’. Karen Bardsley heads into a seventh major tournament.
