FA Women’s National League Cup Final: Nottingham Forest 3-2 Watford (aet)
She Kicks, issue 79, June 2023 p.47
A late, late winner by midfielder Rebecca Anderson gave Nottingham Forest the FA Women’s National League Cup in a pulsating final at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium, watched by 1,358. Forest had to come from behind twice. Watford’s Gemma Davison, formerly of Arsenal, Chelsea and England, scored early; striker Charlotte Greengrass levelled with her 22nd goal of the season and forward Yasmin Mosby put the Northern Division side ahead, before Poppy Wilson’s equaliser forced extra time. Both sides went close in the additional half-hour until Anderson’s long-range effort struck the decisive blow with four minutes to go. It was the reverse of the result the same two clubs would produce four weeks later in the play-off final at Stadium MK.
