The She Kicks Locker Room: What’s On Your Phone? With Ella Rutherford

Charlton Athletic were in the Championship promotion mix and looking to a 22-year-old forward, playing professionally in the south London she is from, to fire them up. She hands over her phone. The last call was to Shirley Roche; the most important person in it is her mum, who will always be on the other end whatever the time of day. The last message went to teammate Hannah Godfrey, asking how her knee rehabilitation was going, and the last picture was a BeReal of four of them at Nando’s. TikTok is the favourite platform and BeReal the guilty pleasure, the last song played was Thinking ‘Bout Love by Wild Rivers, and the last app downloaded was David Lloyd.
