Born Kicking: Eva and Olivia Mullen (Leam Rangers U12)

The grassroots slot goes to eleven-year-old twins who play for Leam Rangers Under-12s in Gateshead and have an unusual connection to the magazine: their uncle founded She Kicks twenty-five years ago, their aunt works there, and so did their cousin and briefly their father. Both support Newcastle United and Durham, the latter because their PE teacher plays for them. Olivia wears ten though she is a defender; Eva wears eleven because it is her age. Eva is left-footed, Olivia right. Before kick-off the whole team puts hands in a circle and chants Up The Leam. Both name Steph Houghton as their hero, Eva because she is from the North East and captains England, Olivia because she is a defender too.
