Learning To Walts Again (Sophie Walton interview)
She Kicks, issue 66, April 2021 pp.40–43
Sophie Walton was in the WSL from its first season and played a whole Wembley FA Cup final for Notts County in 2015. This year she is back up in the Championship with Sheffield United, after spells at Guiseley and Nottingham Forest while finding her feet again following the birth of her son. The comeback was far tougher than she expected: a caesarean left her having to learn to run and almost to walk properly again, and eighteen months passed before she felt somewhere near herself. She talks about her friendship with Steph Houghton, formed in England camps and still central to both families, about wondering what stopped her getting the England call-up she was tipped for at sixteen, and about the children’s clothing business that now fills her days.
