Man Alive! It’s #SK65 (Editor’s Letter)
She Kicks, issue 65, February 2021 p.3
Jen O’Neill writes from a third lockdown and a second football shutdown for everyone below the elite, admitting she feels like a broken record. So much had changed since the last issue, she says, that they did not try to fit it all in. What she offers instead is a deliberate change of shape – more, and longer, interviews, with a request for reader feedback on whether that excludes younger readers. She then sets out five anniversaries as a distraction and a corrective: it is 100 years since the FA effectively banned the women’s game and 50 since it rescinded the ban on its members’ pitches; 30 since the WFA started England’s first National League, in which she played for Sunderland; 50 years of the Women’s FA Cup; ten of the WSL; and 25 of She Kicks itself.
