Writing during England’s second lockdown, Tottenham’s defender counts herself fortunate to be a professional still training and playing, and says that a few matches in it has really hit home how much the players miss the fans. She hopes a vaccine brings supporters back in the new year. Spurs have had a frustrating start and sit lower than the squad’s quality warrants, with injuries biting hard; she singles out Jessica Naz for the work done returning from a cruciate injury. As a defender she relishes facing the league’s new strikers and reads them like a scout – Alex Morgan for hold-up play, Ellen White for movement off the back shoulder, Miedema as a pure goalscorer. She wishes Women’s Football Weekend had been on mainstream television, and expects that it will be.
