Little Kicks: Readers’ Photos With Their Favourite Players

The readers’ page gathers four photographs and the stories behind them. Eve Merritt is pictured with Lauren Haynes of Oxford United, whom she met four years ago playing grassroots football and now plays under at the regional talent club, wearing the number four shirt with pride. Niamh first met Steph Houghton in 2017 and watched her play against Bosnia at Ashton Gate; she now wears number five after the England captain even though she plays as a striker. Jessica is photographed with Beth England, her favourite because she is always scoring goals and has the moves to do it. And Dave Wheeler’s Jarrow Under-12s met Jill Scott at a coaching session, a local player who inspires them to keep working hard. The page closes with the standing invitation for readers to send in their own selfies, photographs and drawings.
