Riding The Waves In Cornwall (Cornwall FA)
She Kicks, issue 59, March 2020 p.38
Cornwall FA reports growth on three fronts. Futsal is the largest: a Football Foundation grant has let the Cornwall Girls Football League expand its futsal offer for Under-10s and Under-12s while keeping it for Under-14s and Under-16s, taking participating teams from 39 last season to 48 this, a 23 per cent rise. On coaching, the new Plymouth Marjon Women’s High Performance Centre and the appointment of Natasha Mills as coach development officer add a route specifically for coaches working in the female game, alongside the FA coach mentor programme. And the county reports significant growth in girls’ and women’s teams over eighteen months, driven by Wildcats centres, together with the arrival of Cornwall’s first affiliated women’s walking football team, the Lanivet Pink Pandas.
