Little Kicks: Readers’ Photos With Their Favourite Players

The readers’ page collects three photographs and the stories behind them. Twelve-year-old Abby Kay met Megan Rapinoe in Seattle in the summer after the World Cup: Rapinoe was injured and did not play, but came to the spectators at the end and gave up a lot of time for photographs. Kay plays centre-midfield for Oxford United’s Under-12 regional talent club and the Cherwell School, and would next like to meet Steph Houghton and Keira Walsh, the latter because she aspires to play like her. Marcia Milnes supplies a picture of the veteran Arsenal supporter Maria Petri at the north London derby, where the former Arsenal and now Tottenham forward Gemma Davison vaulted the barriers to hug her. Christopher Moore’s daughter Jenny got Carly Telford’s shirt after the Wembley record-breaker.
