On The Move Player Interview: Iris Achterhof (Durham WFC)
She Kicks, issue 55, August 2019 p.49
Durham’s summer signing Iris Achterhof arrives in the FA Women’s Championship by an unusual route. The 22-year-old Dutch striker, a former team-mate of Vivianne Miedema at Heerenveen, spent four years on scholarship at Old Dominion University in the United States and a summer playing in Iceland with Thor/KA before joining Durham. She tells She Kicks the chance to continue her education on the club’s masters programme was the first attraction, and that knowing the former Durham player Kathryn Hill at Old Dominion gave her a clear sense of the club’s system and playing style. Asked what she hopes to bring, she offers two words: goals and assists. Her first day was spent locked out, waiting for house keys, before finally getting onto the field.
