Coach Kicks: Maren Meinert (Germany Under-19/20)

Germany’s youth coach answers the Coach Kicks questions and gives an ex-forward’s answer to the first: her favourite session is organising the defence, because in attack she gives players freedom and in defence she wants everyone to know their job. The player who made the biggest impression was a goalkeeper she had to drop before a World Cup, who came back ten minutes later to thank her for how the environment felt and to say she would go and help the team anyway. Her most repeated word is self-confidence, because a player who has it knows what to do next. Her advice to a young player moving abroad is to study alongside it, because a career can end quickly.
