Amy Presents Dissertation Research at The Power of Sport Student Conference (Amy O’Connor)

Amy O’Connor took a fifteen-minute slot at a student conference at Liverpool John Moores to present the dissertation she wrote in her final year, on fan engagement and a business model for the football industry, and to explain how she had since addressed its limitations by interviewing an executive at a top-six Premier League club. It was, she says, another situation outside her comfort zone, and she has spent the last year deciding to take those with both hands. Her advice to students offered something similar is never to turn it down however nervous they feel, and she passes on the line she was given immediately beforehand: nobody knows your research the way you do.
