Welsh Wonder Wall (Laura O’Sullivan interview)
She Kicks, issue 47, May 2018 pp.28–31
Before 6 April, England supporters had not heard of Laura O’Sullivan. By the final whistle at St Mary’s she had kept out the world’s second-ranked side in front of more than twenty-five thousand people, been voted player of the match, and almost doubled her Twitter following overnight. What surprised people more was that she had been a goalkeeper for less than three years – an outfield player who went in goal because nobody else would, spotted by Jayne Ludlow at a Cardiff City match and invited to camp the next day. She works full-time as an administrator, trains four nights a week, and is unbothered that no top club has come calling on the strength of one game. Being booed, she found funny.
