Birmingham’s captain writes in the week Girls’ Football Week begins and two English clubs contest Champions League semi-finals for the first time, and her theme throughout is who gets to watch. Both those semi-finals and both FA Cup semi-finals were broadcast by the BBC, and she connects that directly to the girls trying football for the first time that week: coverage on mainstream channels is what lets them see it and imagine doing it. She congratulates three team mates on making the PFA Team of the Year, two of them after a season disrupted by illness and injury. Remembering Birmingham’s own Wembley final, she advises Arsenal and Chelsea simply to go out and enjoy it.
