Safe Hands: Laura O’Sullivan (Yeovil Town and Wales)

She Kicks, issue 44, November 2017 p.58

Wales and Yeovil’s goalkeeper had just been named FAW Women’s Player of the Year and calls it a total shock, given how short a time she has been in the position at all – she wanted to be an outfield player, went in goal in five-a-side when nobody else would, and only committed to it in 2014/15. That background shows in what she rates as her strength: good feet, and playing as an extra defender behind the back line. Her favourite drill is having tennis balls fired at her; her least is anything involving running. Asked what one thing would make her better, she answers going full-time, with consistent training and proper recovery, because juggling a job with club and country is not easy.
