View From The Field: Kerys Kicks (Kerys Harrop column)

She Kicks, issue 41, May 2017 p.28

Birmingham’s captain writes with a fortnight to go before Wembley and makes no attempt to hide what it means to her. Reaching the final the hard way, past Arsenal and Chelsea, makes it sweeter, and she describes the semi-final swing from scoring first to conceding late as a game of mixed emotions settled by a goalkeeper in her element: Ann-Katrin Berger, named player of the round, before Ellen White converted the winning penalty. Leading the side out at the home of English football, after so many years at the club, will be the highlight of her career so far. The column turns sober at the end, on a flat Spring Series defeat to Sunderland and on Notts County, whose players she describes as having had their livelihoods taken away abruptly.
