All French Final: 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final in Cardiff
She Kicks, issue 41, May 2017 p.25
With Lyon edging Manchester City 3-2 on aggregate and Paris Saint-Germain dismissing Barcelona 5-1, the Champions League final at Cardiff City Stadium will be an all-French affair. She Kicks sets the scene with the connections that make it more than a derby: PSG captain Laura Georges spent six years at Lyon, their head coach Patrice Lair managed Lyon from 2010 to 2014, Caroline Seger moved the other way, and Shirley Cruz Trana left Lyon for Paris after seven years. PSG ended Lyon’s eighty-seven game unbeaten run in 2014 and beat them again in December 2016. The squads are heavy with global talent, from Marozsan, Kumagai, Morgan and Hegerberg at Lyon to Boquete, Cristiane and Formiga in Paris, and two Canadians will meet in a final for the first time.
