Safe Hands: Jasmine Read (Yeovil Ladies U14)

She Kicks, issue 40, April 2017 p.62

Thirteen-year-old Jasmine Read keeps goal for Yeovil Ladies Under-14s, Somerset county, a mixed team at Pen Mill and the South West regional centre, and has been called up to a National Player Centre. She decided to be a goalkeeper after watching Rachel Simkin at a Yeovil game in May 2014 and being inspired by her performance and love for the game. Her favourite save was a high diving stop at nil-nil in a cup final against the league leaders, after which her side won four-nil. She names three Yeovil goalkeepers as her favourites for their bravery, level-headedness and humour, and quotes her coach: do not dwell on mistakes during a game.
