Born Kicking: Poppy Honey Wannell

Eleven-year-old Poppy Honey Wannell from Wiltshire plays for Royal Wootton Bassett girls and supports Manchester City Women and Swindon Town’s men. Strongest with her right foot but able to use both, she plays in midfield because that is where all the action is, and describes herself as skilful, fit and strong. The player she would most like to meet is Toni Duggan, and given the choice of team-mates she would take Duggan, Jill Scott and Steph Houghton – a City trio, reflecting the club that had just won the WSL title and the Continental Cup covered earlier in the same issue. Blue is the shirt colour she would most like to play in.
