Positive Response From Relegated Vixens (Emily Scott, Guiseley, interview)

Guiseley AFC Vixens captain Emily Scott says relegation, sealed by dropping two points against Newcastle on the last day, is already behind the squad. She credits chairman John Shirt with responding immediately by bringing in Glen Preston and Kyle O’Reilly to extend the club’s long-term vision and professionalise the whole set-up, which now includes a full development squad and coaching staff. The new coaches have sold a vision that new signings and existing players have bought into, and she reports a real energy about the place. Pre-season focused on style of play and what she calls football fitness – reaching maximum heart rate through football drills rather than running miles. Promotion is the target.
