Murray’s Making Herself at Home (Christie Murray interview)
She Kicks, issue 37, September 2016 p.25
Former Celtic midfielder Christie Murray describes settling at Doncaster Rovers Belles, where she walked into a bouncing changing room on her first day and found one of the best team spirits she has known. She chose Doncaster to play in WSL 1 again and was impressed by Emma Coates’ ideas for the future. She shares a house with Katrin Omarsdottir, who is very calm, and Marta Bakowska-Mathews, who is very spontaneous. Comparing the leagues, she says the top Scottish teams are good but the game there is still developing while in the WSL any team can win on their day. She welcomes the winter switch, arguing that regular weekly games build momentum for players and teams alike.
