SWPL: Chasing City
She Kicks, issue 36, July 2016 p.44
At the mid-season break the Scottish Women’s Premier League is far tighter than early results suggested. Glasgow City won their opening nine league games and led by eight points, but four days in June changed everything: Hibernian beat them in stoppage time to win the SWPL Cup, City then lost to Spartans, and Hibs won their game in hand to close within two points. Celtic sit nine points back in third, unable yet to beat either. Spartans are three points off third and Rangers only six clear of the relegation place. In SWPL 2 a three-way title fight between Glasgow Girls, Hearts and Hamilton Academical is unresolved, while Inverness City won their first game since October 2014.
