Interview
The New Euro Blues (Ann-Katrin Berger, Marisa Ewers, Isabelle Linden and Andrine Hegerberg)
She Kicks, issue 36, July 2016 pp.20–23
Birmingham City respond to the referendum by going European, signing German goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, defender Marisa Ewers and striker Isabelle Linden plus Norwegian midfielder Andrine Hegerberg. Manager David Parker says six months of planning went into a recruitment process aimed at breaking up the big three, and that personality mattered as much as playing profile. Sharing a house together, the four describe settling in: a first Saturday lost in the Bull Ring, Ewers arriving by Eurostar, Berger wanting a new experience after Paris Saint-Germain. Hegerberg was named player of the match on debut in a goalless draw with Arsenal, Berger made a vital save, and Linden came on for the last half hour with her mother watching.
