Unbeaten Brighouse ‘Banging on the Door’ (Kayleigh Bamforth interview)

Brighouse Town right-back Kayleigh Bamforth describes a different kind of pressure this season: after a bedding-in year as an unknown quantity, promotion to the FA Women’s Premier League is now in the club’s own hands. Winning the League Cup and competing at this level gave the squad confidence, and signings including Annabelle Cass from Leeds and Jodie Redgrave from Bradford, plus players returning from university, have strengthened it further. A one-nil West Riding Cup defeat to Premier League Leeds, in which Brighouse were on top for long spells, is taken as a fair measure of where they stand. She names a two-one win at Barnsley as the team’s best moment, watched from the sidelines with a fractured ankle.
