No More For Moore (Kristy Moore)

She Kicks, issue 26, February 2015 pp.40–41

Kristy Moore, who bowed out this winter after 24 seasons, looks back on a career that took her from Australia’s boys’ leagues to Barnet, the professional Fulham side, Norway’s Toppserien and finally the captaincy of her home city’s Adelaide United, where she signed off with the players’ player and club player of the year awards. Persistent injuries decided it, she says: her body was telling her enough is enough and she could no longer give a hundred per cent. Her one regret is not staying in Norway a further season to top the Toppserien’s all-time scoring list, and she believes she should have won more England caps, noting that players based abroad were easily overlooked. She singles out Katrine Pedersen as a team-mate deserving wider recognition, and tips Germany for the World Cup.
