Full Circle in Fulham

Fulham FC Foundation Ladies chairperson Steve Windridge describes how a side that once played as Westfield FC has come back under the banner of a men’s club, more than a decade after Fulham Ladies were fully professional and at the top of the women’s game. The transition was planned over eighteen months so that the FA, the league and Surrey County were consulted and players faced minimal disruption. Most Westfield players stayed, joined by a new coaching team including a specialist goalkeeping coach, physio and conditioning specialists. The squad has more than doubled and a reserve team created, addressing previous seasons when injuries cost them promotion. The club trains and plays at Surrey Sports Park and was introduced to Fulham’s supporters at Craven Cottage.
