She Kicks Back: Emma Black

She Kicks, issue 23, September 2014 p.50

Glasgow City right-back Emma Black marks ten years at Scotland’s leading club side and a return to fitness after a serious knee injury. She describes a training week of two strength sessions, two speed and agility sessions with Sue Lappin and four club sessions, and says she feels sharp and is performing well again. The low point of her lay-off was six weeks on crutches with no weight-bearing, unable to make a coffee or drive, and attending a wedding dress fitting on crutches; the compensation was time to organise the wedding itself. Black lists eight league titles, five Scottish Cups and five League Cups, and picks out the 2011 Champions League tie in Iceland when City became the first Scottish side to reach the last sixteen as her favourite occasion.
