January Transfer Window

A round-up of the Barclays WSL’s January transfer window, headlined by Chelsea’s world-record signing of Colombia striker Mayra Ramírez from Levante for a reported €450,000, quickly eclipsed by Bay FC’s deal for Zambia forward Racheal Kundananji. The window also saw Canada midfielder Jessie Fleming leave Chelsea for Portland Thorns, Manchester City lose Deyna Castellanos and Julie Blakstad, and Spurs bid farewell to Angharad James. Arsenal strengthened at the back with Emily Fox and the returning Sarah Bouhaddi, while Chelsea added Everton’s Nathalie Björn and West Ham brought in Kristie Mewis and Katrina Gorry. Dozens more moves rippled across the league and its academies, from loan switches to a University of Nebraska recruit joining Everton, as clubs reshaped their squads for the run-in.
