2024 Conti Cup Final
She Kicks, issue 84, May 2024 pp.8–9
A match report from the 2024 Continental Cup final at Molineux, where Arsenal beat London rivals Chelsea 1-0 after extra time in front of a record crowd of 21,462 to retain the trophy for a seventh time. Chelsea had a first-half goal from Mayra Ramírez ruled out by VAR for handball, and play was halted late in the second half when Arsenal’s Frida Maanum needed lengthy medical attention before being confirmed stable. With the tie heading towards penalties, Stina Blackstenius struck in the 116th minute to settle it – repeating her matchwinning role from the previous year’s final against the same opponents. The result also ended any chance of Chelsea boss Emma Hayes matching the historic quadruple she won with Arsenal as assistant coach 17 years earlier.
