NWSL Farewells

A short round-up of four players honoured by their clubs as the 2025 NWSL regular season wound down, with the issue going to press as the play-offs began. Angel City celebrated World Cup-winning United States forward Christen Press and New Zealand defender Ali Riley, the club’s inaugural captain, whose faces appeared on fan masks against Portland Thorns. Seattle Reign’s Lauren Barnes, at the club since the league began in 2013, played her 252nd and final regular-season game against Orlando Pride, a league record, with a play-off run still to come. Kansas City Current say goodbye to Kristen Hamilton, chasing a fourth championship after titles with Western New York Flash and North Carolina Courage.
