The Dóttir Diary

Her Goal, issue 7, June 2026 p.27

The former Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton defender’s regular column, written before the Women’s FA Cup final. Thorisdottir welcomes a WSL title race that ran to the penultimate weekend, arguing that more clubs closing the gap on Chelsea makes the league more demanding and better for the women’s game. Most of the column belongs to Brighton, her former club: a slow start transformed after Christmas, big results against the top sides, and a first FA Cup final reached by beating Liverpool 3-2 in a semi-final that moved her to tears. She backs Dario Vidosic’s side against City at Wembley while acknowledging the occasion’s scale, and welcomes the club’s newly announced women’s stadium, planned for 2030/31.
