Her Goal, issue 7, June 2026 pp.12–13

Chelsea captain Millie Bright OBE announced her retirement at the end of April, six months after closing an England career of 88 caps, six goals and a EURO 2022 winner’s medal. Honoured at Chelsea’s final home game against Manchester United, the 32-year-old leaves with eight WSL titles, six FA Cups and four League Cups among 20 trophies. Signed from Doncaster Rovers Belles in December 2014, she departs as the club’s longest-serving player and all-time appearance leader on 314, with 19 goals, and tops the WSL’s own appearance chart on 216. Taking up an ambassadorial role, she explained in a statement that she had always said she would retire at the top and at this club. Her exit follows those of Catarina Macario, Guro Reiten and Sam Kerr.
