Interview
Robyn Cowen
She Kicks, issue 90, July 2025 pp.18–19
A light, fast-moving Q&A with BBC commentator Robyn Cowen, the voice of the Lionesses’ EURO 2022 final victory, mixing tournament preview with deliberately studs-up questions. She names dancing to “Return of the Mack” with Ian Wright, Fara Williams and Alex Scott in a broadcast-compound car park as her most surreal 2022 memory, stands up for both “Sweet Caroline” and “Freed From Desire”, and picks apart the defensive selection puzzle facing Sarina Wiegman with Leah Williamson, Millie Bright and Alex Greenwood all expert centre-backs. Travelling with an eight-month-old and a four-year-old has changed her tournament essentials since the World Cup. She backs Georgia Stanway for karaoke, envies the French anthem, admits the 9pm kick-offs will be a struggle, and confesses that matching Icelandic surnames to the right player keeps her awake at night.
