Captain’s Chat: Jade Greenshields

An instalment of Captain’s Chat within the SWPL-focused SK Locker Room takeover, interviewed by Catherine Etoe. Jade Greenshields, long-serving skipper of St Johnstone, formerly Jeanfield Swifts, who rose through the divisions to reach SWPL2 in 2016, is a free-scoring midfielder and a firefighter off the pitch. She describes herself as a fair, dedicated and hard-working captain who would not ask of others anything she would not do herself, and names winning the SWFL First Division and promotion to SWPL2 as her proudest moment. She explains how shift work shapes her leadership, often going straight from a nightshift to football and having to leave work behind, and says it has made her stronger. She talks about the huddle team talk, the responsibilities that continue after the whistle, and leaning on vice-captain Rebecca Foote.
