Foxy Ladies: Emily Ridges interview (TNS beat Leafield Athletic, Women’s FA Cup)
She Kicks, issue 31, November 2015 p.51
Under the heading Foxy Ladies, She Kicks speaks to Emily Ridges after TNS of the West Midlands League knocked Premier League Leafield Athletic out of the Women’s FA Cup. Ridges, who has been with the Saints since 2008, describes a comfortable win over Bilbrook in the previous round while insisting the club never underestimate teams from lower leagues, especially in the FA Cup. She admits feeling apprehensive at drawing Leafield, knowing TNS were capable of winning but that their opponents’ physicality would make it a battle, and puts the result down to wanting it more, battling and trying to play football when the chance came. For a fairly young, small side, she says, they proved they will fight for results and enjoy being underdogs. Ridges did not feel the tie was won until the final whistle, and welcomes a home draw against Wolves as reward for their form.
