2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup – Bronze for Young Lionesses

A two-page celebration of England’s bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in northern France, their best ever finish at a tournament held every two years since 2002. Twenty-one Young Lionesses beat France 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the third-place play-off in Vannes. Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver saved two penalties in the shoot-out and was named Best Goalkeeper, receiving the adidas Golden Glove, while Georgia Stanway scored early in the second half and finished joint top scorer with six goals alongside Spain’s Patricia Guijarro, with Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo adding three each. Georgia Allen’s penalty sealed bronze. The full squad is listed, Japan are noted as completing an unprecedented treble of U-17, U-20 and senior titles, and coach Mo Marley credits two years of preparation.
