We Kick — Claygate Royals Ladies

She Kicks, issue SK11, November 2012 pp.47–48

The grassroots club slot features Claygate Royals, established around 1966 and now running 32 sides including two girls’ teams and a ladies’ eleven; the girls’ section began in 2010 with a single player whose father did not want her to miss out while his sons played. The ladies finished mid-table last season despite struggling to field a regular eleven, and a similar finish is expected. Captain Georgie Emery has great pace and usually plays up front, though she tends to drift back to help the defence. Kaileigh Frayling is named the unsung hero for managing the side, taking her Level 1 badge and building the girls’ section. The club claims perhaps the only deaf chairman in the country.
