We Kick — University of Birmingham Women’s Football Club

The grassroots slot features the University of Birmingham women’s football club, whose players come from London, Somerset, the North West and the Midlands. The nicknames are the heart of it: Crazy Alice, Folly Bear for Emma Follis, Honey for a fresher who calls everyone babe, and 20+ for a player who cannot be called 21 because club rules forbid saying the number. The first team sit mid-table in the BUCS Northern Premier League and the seconds finished second in Midlands 1A. Kirsty, known as Parfe, is club captain, with Charley and Rachael leading the first and second teams and Jenny coaching the firsts. Izzy Christiansen is the fittest, also training with Birmingham City. The club carries a token brown bear called Tim everywhere it goes.
