Oxford United Women and Rugby Borough Secure Fourth Straight Wins

Oxford United Women and Rugby Borough both extended their winning start in the FA WNL top tier with fourth straight victories.

Rugby Borough made it four straight wins with both goals at Middlesbrough, leading the table ahead of Huddersfield, whose Laura Elford scored the winner against Derby County.

Abbey Jones grabbed a 95th-minute decider for West Brom at Liverpool Feds, Loughborough’s Lucy Mutch also scored in stoppage time for a 3-2 victory at Peterborough, with her second goal of the game.

Norwich City fought back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw against Boldmere, Drew Wilson scored in the 96th minute.

Stoke City scored three goals without reply against Hull City to move into third place.

Top team Oxford United made it four wins from four with five different scorers at Hashtag, while Fulham came from behind to win 2-1 at Swindon, where Rianna Dean netted a late double to lift them into second place.

Lewes ended AFC Bournemouth’s winning start with a 1-1 draw, Cheltenham’s Leonie Joyce hit a hat-trick but Ishbel Zuurmond made it 4-4 for Exeter with her second of the match in added time.

AFC Wimbledon beat Real Bedford with a quickfire double soon after the restart, Portsmouth ran out 4-0 winners at Plymouth Argyle as Zoe Barratt’s late brace made sure of the result.

Leeds saw off Stockport 4-2, with Chloe Dixon and Amy Woodruff each grabbing a couple, the latter scoring twice in two minutes as United moved two points clear at the top and Norton became the first side two take points off Fylde.

Thornaby came out on top in a 10-goal thriller at Bradford, after scoring twice in the last seven minutes of the match to go third.

Halifax beat Blackburn courtesy of an early goal from Farah Crompton, Chester-le-Street struck twice in the first seven minutes as they beat Chorley 2-1, Durham Cestria sealed victory with a late second goal against York City.

Sutton Coldfield halted the winning spree of top side Leafield in a 1-1 draw, Wythenshawe beat Sporting Khalsa 4-0 with Rosie Axten sent off after 22 minutes, to leapfrog them into second spot.

Aaliyah Nolan scored the sole goal as Barnsley Women won at Notts County, as did Chesterfield’s Ruby Shore versus Kidderminster.

Northampton’s 5-1 result at Sheffield FC featured a treble by Emma Pollard, Lye Town lost 5-2 at home to Worcester City for whom Lowri Walker claimed a hat-trick.

Actonians beat Stevenage 3-1 to go top, with Olivia Clement scoring twice, while London Bees rescued a point with a very late equaliser in a 3-3 draw against MK Dons, who had come from two down to lead 3-2.

Amelia Woodgate scored a couple of early goals to set up Chatham’s win over Cambridge, whom they leapfrogged into fourth position.

QPR moved up to nine points, while Luton and Dulwich both claimed their first wins.

Moneyfields came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory at Gwalia United, with Libby Hester scoring the decisive second goal, keeping them ahead on goal difference of Bridgwater, who won by the same score at Marine Academy.

Bristol Rovers staged a comeback to secure a fine 3-1 win at third-placed Wycombe, Sarah Stacey’s two goals helped Torquay secure three points at Keynsham.

All the goals came in the first half as Bournemouth Sports took the points 4-2 at Ascot United, aided by a Chloe Sheffield brace as they scored four times in an 11-minute spell, while Abingdon have three wins from four after a 5-2 success at Maidenhead.
