Nottingham Forest Women have signed versatile defender Abbie Lafayette on a two-year deal from fellow Barclays WSL 2 side Sheffield United.

Previously with Ipswich Town and Watford, she played every minute of the Blades’ 2025/26 league campaign.

Lafayette told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “I’ve learned and grown a lot in the past few seasons playing at this level and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience here.

“I’m joining an ambitious club with high expectations for the season ahead, and hopefully something great will come at the end of it.”

Head Coach, Tom Mallinson, said: “Signing players who have an understanding of the level required is important and Abbie has performed consistently in this division in the past few seasons.

“Abbie is versatile, she gives a lot to the team going forward but also has a solidity to her game in how she defends which is a great mix. At 24-years-old, she also has potential to develop further as a player which makes it a signing I’m really pleased to have confirmed.”
