Ipswich Town Women beat Sheffield United 4-1 to move three points clear of danger in their bid to avoid finishing bottom of Barclays WSL 2.
Ipswich made the breakthrough deep into first-half added time when Kenzie Weir headed home Lucy Ashworth-Clifford’s corner.
The lead was doubled five minutes after the restart as goalkeeper Sian Rogers failed to clear a ball over the top and Sophie Peskett slotted into an empty net.
Moments after Charlie Devlin hit the post for the Blades, Maria Boswell fired the hosts 3-0 up from outside the box.
Devlin pulled a goal back after Ipswich were unable to clear a corner, only for Peskett to cut inside two defenders and fire home for 4-1.
With two games remaining for each team, Ipswich are three points better off than Portsmouth, and the result also lifted them above Durham and to within a point of Sheffield United.
