China Secure First Place in Womens Asian Cup Group Stage

China beat North Korea 3-2 to edge them out for top spot in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Group B, while Uzbekistan defeated Bangladesh 4-0.

North Korea’s Kim Kyong-Yong turned in a cutback by Han Jin-Hong, but within a couple of minutes China were level, as the ball was laid back for Chen Qiaozhu to drill through a crowded box into the bottom corner.

Wang Shuang had the ball in the net during first-half added time, a VAR review confirmed the goal for China would stand.

North Korea thought they had an 80th-minute equaliser, but it was deemed offside and the group runners-up will now face tournament hosts Australia in the quarter-finals.

Uzbekistan beat Bangladesh 4-0 to take third place in the group. as Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva’s early goal was added to by a swift brace from Dildora Nozimova, with Nilufar Kudratova also on target.
