England Women U23s were again denied victory late on by the Netherlands, in a friendly international played in front of 1,720 fans at Shrewsbury Town.

Lenna Gunning-Williams headed the Young Lionesses into an early lead from a Jess Simpson cross from the by-line.

Mirte van Koppen soon had a clear chance to equalise, but Khiara Keating did well to tip the shot around the post.

Keating did likewise in the second half from an effort by Eva Oude Elberink, before a deflected cross from Gunning-Williams had to be tipped over the crossbar by Regina van Eijk.

The Dutch were denied a late penalty for handball by Mari Ward, while Jessi Gale shot at the keeper when she could have scored in added time.

With seconds left, Oude Elberink was given space to tuck a shot into the far corner and earn a draw.

The two teams meet again in April for a European U-23 competition semi-final.
