Australia face South Korea in an AFC Women’s Asian Cup Group A decider at the weekend, after both took maximum points from their first two games.
Amy Sayer’s cross flew over goalkeeper Maryam Yektaei for an early Australia goal, Caitlin Foord had a goal disallowed but delivered for Mary Fowler to poke home at the far post.
Alanna Kennedy made it 3–0 after a lay-off by Kerr, who then scored a goal of her own but was denied by a fourth VAR check of the first half.
The Matildas were given a penalty seconds after the interval but another VAR check cancelled the original decision of handball.
Kennedy headed home her second goal from Emily van Egmond’s free kick for 4-0, while the unfortunate Hayley Raso twice had the ball hit into her face from close-range.

South Korea struck twice in quick succession in the first quarter of an hour, Yu-Gyeong Jeon’s opener followed by Soo-Jeong Park’s effort from the edge of the box.
In the second half, Olivia McDaniel tipped Son Hwayeon’s shot over the crossbar but did not deal so well with the resulting corner, as Mun Eun-Ju took advantage to complete the scoring at 3–0.
