Loughborough Lightning picked up a big three points in midweek to aid their chances of avoiding relegation from the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.
They scored the only goal of the game away to Hull City as early as the third minute, when Georgia Hewitt’s effort from distance was parried by the keeper and Jessica Collyer put away the rebound.
The result lifted Loughborough off the foot of the table at the expense of Sporting Khalsa and put them within three points of Hull, as well as Derby County and Halifax.
Three of the sides have five games to go, Hull and Khalsa have six left to play.
