Charlton Athletic beat Durham 4-2 to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Barclays WSL 2 table.
Karin Muya’s opener for the Addicks from outside the box was cancelled out by Mariana Speckmaier after 39 minutes, but Lucy Fitzgerald and Gillian Kenney hit back before the break for a 3-1 advantage.
An own goal by Elisha N’Dow gave Durham late hope, but Katie Lockwood sealed the victory with an assist from Emma Bissell.
Mid-table Southampton won 2-0 away to third-placed Bristol City.
Tegan McGowan tucked away an Atlanta Primus cross in first-half stoppage time for the Saints.
Ellie Brazil made sure of the win in added time at the end of the match, with Primus claiming her second assist.
Newcastle United beat basement side Portsmouth 2-0 to move level on points with Bristol City in third.
Emily Murphy got on the end of Lois Joel’s cross to give the Magpies the advantage going into the break.
Murphy turned provider as Beth Lumsden doubled the advantage in the 90th minute.
